Illuminate the NO's on their Vacancy signs

Last week on Wednesday Haley had her surgery. The doctors told her parents to be prepared for her to lose her ability to speak, however since she was so young her brain would create new neuro-pathways and she would be able to re-learn, with time her language capacity along with the use of the right side of her body.

In the NICU recovery Haley opened her eyes and her mom and dad were waiting for her. The first thing that came out of her mouth when she woke up was "Mama".

Doctors and Scientists have made great leaps and bounds in understanding the human mind, but there are no absolutes when it comes to medicine. With all the bad news Haley and her family have had these past weeks i'm happy for the grey areas of medicine which allow us to be overjoyed at small successes.

It's a long and painful journey for her family but at least they have something good to hold onto along the way.
