... and Breathe

I treated myself to getting myself a manicure today. The good kind with the french tips. As I walked into the salon I swore to myself I wouldn't be seduced by these little Viatnamese women with their gentle voices and soft hands. But just like a lulluby I allow my self to be lead into getting my toes done too. It's very soothing to be told to relax, "you sit back, I make you pretty."; "you have sandals, perfect for pedicure."; "you work hard, I pamper you.". Ok, so I have a weak mind, but their hands work wonders and DO leave feeling a little bit better than when i came.

Sunday wasn't half so bad is what I thought it would be. Although I went out in service sunday morning, got involved with a call and made the whole car group late for the meeting. Later on in the day a sister whom I had invited earlier in the week and had said no because my apartment made her claustrophobic, approaches me and says she will come, but with stipulations. Which only added to my feelings of irritation and inferiority.

Three people cancelled but four more asked if they could come too. The house was full and pleasently so. The nerdiest moment of the night was when I looked up from my own computer screen and realized I had four open and running laptops in the middle of my living room. I achieved new heights of video game mastery but lost my edge to one of the younger compeditors. The night was over by 10:30p but filled with satisfaction. The sister who complained about my apartment brought a peace offering of orange daisies (my favorite color) and tolerated the decidedly nerdy side of her husband and his friends. I'd say the evening was a success but I don't want to be too presumptuous.
